The Battle of the day spas - Bubblehouse Vs Yunomori
Social media has been pushing videos on Bubblehouse - Singapore’s latest big scale bathhouse. Some of these posts seemed like sponsored posts, hence, I decided to try for myself and to give you an unbiased personal review of the place and to compare it with Yunomori - the other major bathhouse that I have visited before.
Benefits of going to bathhouses
There are many benefits of going to bathhouses. The warm water from the pools help muscles release and improve circulation. Because of the deep relaxation, sleep also improves and self reported stress level usually reduces. Sauna use also has shown to improve cardiovascular endurance. The bath houses will be compared based on 6 categories - price, location, amenities, post bath facilities and cold pool.
Price
Blubblehouse costs $59 for 6 hours of access while Yunomori charges $49 for a day pass.
Location
Bubblehouse is located in Jurong, while Yunomori is located at Kallang Wave mall. Depending on where you work or live, the winner would be the one more conveniently located.
Amenities
Both bath houses have very similar amenities like hair dryer, toiletries, post shower care like moisturizers and hair gel. Yunomori supplies 1 set of Yakuta while Bubblehouse supplies a set of pyjamas with 2 pockets which is handy for putting your phone after you finish your soak. Even though wearing the Yakuta gives you an experience as if you got instantly transported to Japan, having pockets would be more practical. Hence Bubblehouse wins in this aspect
Food and drinks
At Yunomori, other than the water from the water dispenser that is free, everything else is an add-on from the restaurant. At Bubblehouse, meals are buffet-styled and are also add-ons. However, they include free-flow beverages which include coffee, a wide selection of tea, and a huge selection of canned drinks. They also include free-flow fruits including my favorite - fresh coconuts, Haagen Daz ice cream and packets of corn chips.
Post-bath facilities
Yunomori has a relaxation room where you could relax on your individual reclined sofa. Bubblehouse has one of those too, but in addition, they have a meditation room, a library, sleeping pods and an Esports room. Playing Counter-strike and spiking your heart rate with exhilaration after a relaxing bath may be counter productive in some aspects but it is nevertheless a very fun and joyful experience. Bubblehouse wins hands down in this category.
Cold pool
In this aspect Yunomori wins, with 1 cold pool. Bubble does not have a cool pool, so you would not be able to perform contrast bath therapy or cold exposure tolerance training.
Bubblehouse vs. Yunomori: A Side-by-Side Comparison
Summary Verdict
Choose Bubblehouse if: You prioritize a more modern, activity-filled experience with better value for food/drinks, practical amenities, and don't mind the lack of a cold pool.
Choose Yunomori if: You prefer a more traditional Japanese onsen atmosphere, want the option for a cold plunge, and are looking for a more budget-friendly day pass.
